Born Belfast, enlisted Antrim, residence Belfast, son of John and Sarah Brown, 51 Lichfield Avenue, Bloomfield, Belfast. Assistant Librarian, Central Library, Belfast.

Died of wounds on 11/12 August 1918, aged 23.

Buried at Mont Noir Military Cemetery, St Jans-Cappel, France, grave II.E.3. Grave iInscription reads:
