Born Shankill, Belfast, enlisted at Belfast on 5 October 1914, son of E.J Erskine of 111 Cavehill Road, Belfast, and the late Alec Erskine.

Died of wounds on 10 October 1918, aged 22.

Buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, grave XXX.B.10. Grave inscription reads:
